Job Description

Resident Assistants are student staff members, employed by Housing & Residence Life, who assist students in their acclimation to the residence halls and the university. RAs provide information about activities, events, policies and also assist students with roommate conflicts, homesickness, and academic concerns. Each RA also plans educational and social programs for students in his/her section.

 

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a member of the Housing and Residence Life team and plays a vital role in acclimating students to their new living environment and campus life. RAs live within the halls and work alongside students to encourage independent and responsible living. RAs also go the extra mile to enhance the quality of life in the halls by promoting community through educational and social programs and being attentive to the safety and security of the residents.

 

Your RA serves as one of your best resources, whether its roommate issues, academic concerns, or homesickness. Rest assured that your RA has been adequately trained to actively listen to your concerns and respond appropriately.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must be at least a 2nd semester freshman
  • Clean student disciplinary record
  • Ability to pass a criminal and sex offender background check
  • Freedom from other job responsibilities including student teaching
  • Completed application with three completed reference forms

Compensation

  • Bi-weekly stipend ($1,276 per semester)
  • Paid private housing assignment
  • Opportunity to earn extra money for desk hours exceeding 60 hours and holiday break pay

Desk Attendant at Ellington Hall front desk

Job Description:

Desk Attendants (DAs) are friendly undergraduates within the Housing and Residence Life team. DAs are the first person you encounter when entering the halls and they serve as a great resource for our students, staff and guests. DAs help create a welcoming environment with in the halls by interacting with everyone entering the halls; therefore, it is imperative that DAs are friendly and professional at all times. All DAs are supervised by the area Assistant Hall Director.

 

DAs are expected to answer phone promptly, record messages, assist with emergency procedures, attend all training sessions and staff meetings, and complete a variety of administrative tasks. To be successful as a DA, it is highly encouraged that applicants be adaptable, organized, intuitive, dependable and sociable.

  • Must be at least a 2nd semester freshman

  • Ability to pass a criminal and sex offender background check

Compensation:

Compensation is hourly based on minimum wage.
